Congress Plays Dangerous Double Game On Law & Security Endangering Citizens For Political Expediency

  • The kidnappings of schoolchildren in Bihar may have hogged the headlines
  • but for the Congress, it is Jharkhand, and not Bihar, where law and order and clean administration appear to be the election issues. The party posters being sent from Delhi to Jharkhand proclaim: ‘‘Jharkhand needs rule of law and clean administration (Jharkhand ko chahiye kanoon ka raaj, saaf suthra shasan).’’

This is dangerous and disingenious for Congress as the only reason it is lying low in Bihar is because their ally Laloo Prasad Yadav ... This is typical Congress party double game. Notice how also in Uttar Pradesh it says it is fighting against Mulayam Singh Yadav's Goonda raj but it is still supporting Mulayam's Govt.

The voters in Bihar, as far as the Congress is concerned, can focus on the fight against communal forces. The AICC posters meant for the state call upon the voters to ‘‘elect those who unify society and don’t break it (chuniye unhein jo samaj ko jodate hain, todate nahin).’’ The much-touted aam aadmi has disappeared from the party publicity material without a trace. Though an after-thought, AICC secretary (media) Tom Vadakkan has an interesting explanation to this. ‘‘We are busy making the aam aadmi a khaas aadmi through measures like the Employment Guarantee Bill.’’ This is a joke. The real fact is that without effective opposition to the Congress at the Center, especially after the spectacular disintegration of the BJP the Congress has become arrogant and haughty.
  • All the four posters carry photographs of Congress president Sonia Gandhi. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has met the same fate as aam aadmi. He is also not visible anywhere on the election posters.
  • Congress general secretary Ambika Soni defends this arguing that the Congress ‘‘has a tradition of using only its president’s photographs. It is another matter that earlier, we used to have the president holding the post of prime minister too.’’

Improved And Polite Law & Order Creates Haven For Citizens & Business Establishments

Gurgaon, being a developing city and financial capital of Haryana, naturally attracted the anti-social elements from the country. Before Bhai Gopi Chand Gehlot took over as the peoples representative many mafia groups had established themselves in Gurgaon. Early reisdents of Gurgaon can perhaps remember the time when these mafia groups were active and created havoc.

After being elected to power to deal with these anti-social elements, Bhai Gopi Chand Gehlot came down on them with an iron hand. New Police Stations and Police Chowkies were created, and the established gangs were dissolved or arrested. Now only fringe criminals amongst the migrant population remain, and these too are being tackled with the help of residents and the police.

Two police stations were created, increasing the number from 2 to 4, and Bhai Gopi Chand Gehlot also oversaw the creation of many Police Chowkies.

Also looking at the increasingly changing demographic of the new citizens of Gurgaon, the policemen were trained to be polite and courteous. The rustic and rough edge of the policemen was tempered so that there was a better relationship between the citizens and police.
